Jolly L.L.B is a 20^th Century FOX produced film with director Subhash Kapoor, (Phas Gaya Re Obama).

Starring Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao & Boman Irani.   

Budget of this film is approx. 7-8 Crores.

Jolly LLB is about a LLB qualified person who is a good-for-nothing man. Kapoor informs that LLB is a satire on the judicial system of India. Maximum portions of the film are shot in the college campus and a considerable amount of it is shot in the courtroom.

Initially the film was offered to shah rukh khan, when he rejected the role was offered to Arshad Warsi. This film is scheduled to be shooting at Satara, Delhi, and Bombay. 

We were accompanied by the manager of project from FOX on the film, he helped us to understand the shooting and how the process goes on making a fully fledged movie in Bollywood.

We met the crew and some professionals on the sets like the Executive producer (Naren), production designer (Suman Roy Mahapatra) & the editor of the movie.

Basically we were thought about how the production works in accepting the films and producing them.

·        Script is been read by the head of the production house of India, then send to the parent company in los Angeles, if the script is been selected then the approval comes, the script is again read by the director and the important members of the film crew and if they like then the film budget is mapped.

·        Then we met the man behind making the sets and the scenes colorful and look good behind the scene on screen, which is called as the art designer. He taught us how he works to get the combinations of the colors and the designs right. It was his second movie.

·        We met with the costume designer of the film, she also has told us about the hard work goes to make the dresses and the wardrobe to perfectly fit according to the scenes and the shoot going on.

·        We met with the editor of the film who is not suppose to be at the sets according to rules but he was there to get a good look at what to edit and how to edit on the spot or later after the shoot gets over in the night with the director of the film to get an fair idea.

·        We also saw things like keeping the list of the scenes shoot and maintaining that list to each and every scene which has been taken on camera so that at the time of editing there is no confusion with the editor after the production is done.

·        I have got a great experience of having a look at the perfect timings maintained by the crew, members and actors that is scheduled on paper to come to shoot and the atmosphere on the sets.

·        There were around 120 – 150 crew members on the particular day, 50 – 70 co-actors or background actors per day.

·        They taught us the main difference between the T.V daily soap shoot and the film.

·        There is atleast 3-4 retakes of the particular scene, it may come down to 2 also and may go up by 10 also if the director wants to.

·        We assumed that the acting is a very easy task to do but when we saw the sweat behind, then we realized that its not to easy to be an actor or actress in the film.

·        It’s not at all about glamour and high power or elite people but it’s a team work which is to have everyone contributing and doing their own work to make the film run.

·        If the schedule gets delayed, the production cost goes up which makes the budget go up and alter accordingly.

·        We saw the equipments, labour which were used there, carried from Bombay to set.

·        We had a experience of handling the equipments and its importance of them.

       

      The huge work goes on for a film to go on air which needs props, vehicles, playback song, special requirements, art department/set dressing, wardrobe, hair/ make up,, sound, camera, make up van/ generator, Pa system/walkies talkies, production /location, crew strength, trucks, choreographer, lights, grips, crane/ jib, stills, misc. .

I have got a good knowledge of the Bollywood main screen shooting, I have learnt so many things from this outdoor, that I have got confidence in me to make my own self to go and work harder and harder to lead a life like them. I would request my college to have some more activities like this to gain more knowledge in near future to make our mark in the industry.

I want to sum up my report by paying regards to Mrs. Shabnam Sukhdev & Centum U for allowing us as media professionals to go and bear our cost. It was and life time experience for me to go and directly look at the shooting through my eyes live without contribution of my college.
